TVGA has been retained by the New York State Thruway Authority to complete an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the potential relocation of the Williamsville Toll Barrier between Interchanges 49 and 50 in the Town of Amherst, NY. The EIS is being prepared pursuant to NEPA and will also comply with the requirements of SEQRA. It focuses on an 18-mile corridor extending from the existing barrier to Interchange 48A in Pembroke, NY, crossing six towns in the process. The EIS will examine a number of reasonable alternatives, including alternative sites using a numerical scoring and ranking system to identify candidate sites. TVGA is completing a comprehensive evaluation of social, economic and environmental impacts that could result from project implementation at the candidate sites. This evaluation will rely upon the results of detailed studies pertaining to traffic, noise, air quality, land use, demography, ecological resources, water resources, and economics. TVGA has also been responsible for the development and implementation of an extensive public involvement program that will extend through to acceptance of the Record of Decision (ROD) for the project.
