TVGA was retained to complete a detailed design, prepare an engineering report, construction documents, and coordinate environmental, public and construction support services for replacing and widening the superstructures and repairing the substructures for twin I-91 bridges in southeastern Vermont, which are immediately adjacent to the Vermont Welcome Center.  Traffic control during construction, minimizing delays, and maintaining adequate safety is absolutely critical at this location.

The Engineering Report was based on an in-depth field inspection of the project site, traffic counts, borings, and thorough discussions with Agency officials. The report included multiple layout alternatives for continuous steel and prestressed/post-tensioned concrete beams, development of several complex traffic control schemes, Interstate roadway alignment options, evaluation of substructure widening costs and impacts, geotechnical evaluations of steep, high slopes to be impacted by new geometry, foundation recommendations for substructure widening, and a detailed hydraulic and scour analysis.
