• Wetland Delineation
• Cultural Resources• TEA-21 Funding

TVGA was retained by the Town of Grand Island and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historical Preservation to provide preliminary and final design documents for this TEA-21 funded bike way project.  The Town has created a five-component plan that will enhance the current network of bike and pedestrian trails on the Island .  The project will also support plans by the New York State Department of Transportation to develop a regional trail from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario .

The Bike Trail Connect Project will improve the use of these trails by widening and installing separate pathways, building roadside shoulders along East-West Park Road in Buckhorn State Park, extending existing trails to intersect with other roads and pathways. TVGA delineated Federal and State wetlands on the project site and coordinated the review of cultural resources.  The preliminary design included a Scope Summary Report to the FHWA and the NYSDOT, and conformed with TEA-21 grant requirements. The project design minimized the impacts to cultural resources, wetland resources, and the bird nesting habitat in Buckhorn State Park.
