The Niagara Region Brownfields Showcase Community, a coalition made up of the Cities of Buffalo and
Niagara Falls
and the Counties of Erie and
Niagara
, has selected TVGA Consultants (TVGA) to serve as the manager of the U.S. EPA-funded Brownfields Showcase Community Grant. The Brownfields Showcase Community program is intended to promote environmental protection and restoration, economic redevelopment, job creation, community revitalization, and public health through the assessment, cleanup and sustainable reuse of brownfields. Additionally, the program seeks to link federal, state, local and non-governmental actions supporting community efforts to restore and reuse brownfields, and to develop national models demonstrating the positive results of public and private collaboration in addressing brownfield challenges.
The goal of the Niagara Region Showcase Coalition is the reversal of declining economic conditions through brownfields cleanup and redevelopment, with a focus on the Niagara Region’s role as an international portal. TVGA will assist the Niagara Region Showcase Coalition with the implementation of the soon to be released Niagara Strategic Brownfields Waterfront Plan, the goal of which is to link brownfields restoration to the economic, social and ecological restoration of the Niagara River,
Buffalo
River
, and Eighteen Mile Creek watersheds. On behalf of the Coalition, TVGA will also research, identify and pursue funding opportunities under other state and federal grant programs, and will coordinate environmental assessment activities at priority brownfield sites within the region. Other responsibilities of the Grant Manager will be to coordinate and manage community outreach activities, liaise with other state and federal agencies, and provide administrative support relative to EPA reporting requirements under the Showcase Grant program.

Showcase Grant Manager through September 2007. Other communities to whi
ch TVGA is providing brownfield assistance include Chautauqua County, the
Cities of Olean, Dunkirk and Jamestown, and the Village of Youngstown.
